Frequently Asked Questions
-
Do you need a prescription for physical therapy? You do not need a prescription. Tennessee is among the states that have "direct access", which allows individuals to seek physical therapy treatment without a prescription from a physician or other healthcare provider for a certain period of time or under certain conditions. The benefits of direct access include faster access to care, cost savings, increased patient autonomy, reduced healthcare burden, early intervention, improved health outcomes, and greater convenience.
-
Can I use insurance to pay for physical therapy treatment? We're dedicated to providing you with the best care and personalized attention. That's why we operate as a cash-based practice, meaning we do not have direct affiliations with insurance providers. However, if your insurance plan has out-of-network coverage, we'll give you a detailed bill that you can submit for reimbursement. We accept payment through HSA/FSA accounts, credit cards, or cash to make it convenient for you.
-
How many physical therapy sessions will I need? The number of physical therapy sessions our patients need can vary widely depending on the nature of their injury, diagnosis, and their specific goals. For minor issues like sprains, a handful of sessions might do the trick, while more complex injuries or chronic problems could require several months of therapy. The key is to work closely with us to set achievable goals and adjust the treatment plan as you progress to ensure you get the best results. It's all about finding the right balance and staying on the path to feeling your best!

What is dry needling?Dry needling is a therapeutic technique performed by trained healthcare professionals, such as physical therapists or chiropractors, where thin filiform needles are inserted into specific trigger points, tight muscles, and soft tissues. This procedure aims to alleviate pain, relax tight muscles, improve joint mobility, and enhance overall musculoskeletal function by releasing tension and promoting healing in targeted areas. Dry needling is distinct from acupuncture and is primarily used for treating musculoskeletal pain and dysfunction.
-
Is dry needling painful?Relax! The filiform needles we use are tiny! Depending on your sensitivity and the nature of your musculoskeletal problem, some individuals may experience mild discomfort or a sensation of pressure. Any discomfort or pain experienced during dry needling is temporary and subsides quickly after treatment.

How does a lymphatic massage work?A lymphatic massage is a gentle and soothing technique performed by a therapist certified in Manual Lymphatic Drainage (MLD). We use light, rhythmic strokes to encourage the natural flow of lymphatic fluid in the body, aiding in reducing any swelling, supporting the immune system, and promoting relaxation. It's a gentle, calming massage for your body, helping it feel lighter or less swollen. The process removes waste and toxins from the body while boosting your sense of well-being.
-
What are the benefits of lymphatic massage?Manual Lymphatic Drainage (MLD) is a specialized therapeutic technique that offers a range of benefits, including reduced swelling, improved detoxification, boosted immunity, relaxation, pain relief, and better lymph circulation. It's great for post-surgery recovery and aiding in auto-immune disease control. It is also effective at reducing stress, promoting healthy skin and hair, and supporting your body's natural processes.
